Hereford Steiner school (Hereford, England) experienced some hands on agriculture in the form of horse drawn ploughing. In the spirit of an ecological future the team of three farming generations ploughed a quarter acre of the field which is to be the new school garden.
Some of the students took control of the plough and felt the earth and the horses through their hands. The land group have designed this plot for all the classes to use, and seed donations quickly appeared on the day.
The senior member of the ploughing team took part in his first ploughing match in the 20’s when tractors were only beginning to steal the limelight – maybe he will also see their demise.
